Adding Specialized Therapy & Convenient Services

Graham Medical Group : Canton, Illinois

PROJECT SIZE & COST

35,700 square feet | $6.62 million

THE CHALLENGE

To increase outpatient services and convenience, Graham added two stories to its existing clinic. A new warm water therapy pool presented unique plumbing, HVAC and electrical challenges, and both the pool and the new pharmacy/IV prep area had to meet special building codes. Despite major space constraints, all work had to be done without disrupting patients and staff in the existing space.

KED SOLUTION

In the pool area, we designed all systems to perform in a corrosive, high-humidity environment—setting special tolerances and parameters for each system to ensure updates worked effectively. We partnered with a specialty provider to install a dehumidification system to address unique heating and air conditioning requirements.

We rerouted fiber-optic and phone lines underneath the new addition and installed new rooftop air-conditioning units, boilers and a temperature control system to handle the additional load. To address temperature and filtration constrains in the pharmacy/IV prep area, we installed a dedicated rooftop HVAC unit.
