Limestone Fire Department : Peoria, Illinois
18,000 square feet | $5.6 million
THE CHALLENGE
To serve a growing community, this local fire department built a new central fire station—a pre-engineered building that needed upgrades to meet specialized requirements—and renovated three existing stations to increase their capacity and replace outdated systems.
KED SOLUTION : Specialized Electrical & Exhaust Systems
As part of the design/build process for the new central fire station, we upgraded the electrical system and added an emergency generator and door control interface to reduce fume exhaust. We installed a make-up air handling unit and vehicle exhaust system to provide fresh air in the apparatus bay, along with in-floor radiant heat to keep the space comfortable in winter. We also designed exterior lighting, training and sleep rooms, a kitchen and antenna towers. Renovations to the existing stations included electrical upgrades, new restrooms and storm shelters, and interior remodels.
