Creating a Comfortable Camping Experience

Sankoty Lakes : Spring Bay, Illinois

PROJECT SIZE & COST

2.25M square feet | $1.2 million

THE CHALLENGE
Sankoty Lakes is a world-class wilderness retreat in central Illinois, complete with crystal clear water for trout and fly fishing. Sankoty Lakes required specialized electrical and plumbing solutions, to create a sustain-able fishing habitat. They also needed electrical and plumbing systems designed for their glamping cabins, pavilion restaurant, shower and restroom facilities, and camper hook-ups. Also, distance and budget were a concern as the property is remote and expansive making it difficult to get the necessary power for the amenities.

KED SOLUTION : Specialized Solutions for Glamping Needs
KED provided the idea of copper wiring, as an economical solution to the power issue. Uniquely, we utilized gas-fired equipment supplied by propane as opposed to natural gas, due to the remote location of the facility. We performed extensive research of other canvas, indoor/outdoor buildings, and their code requirements to ensure an aesthetically pleasing and safe electrical design for these innovative structures. We designed electrical and plumbing systems for the pavilion restaurant, shower and restroom facilities, camper hook-ups, and flowing trout stream as well, allowing a quick turnaround time for their grand opening.
