Don Shute Elementary School : East Peoria, Illinois
40,775 square feet | $5.2 million
THE CHALLENGE
Don Shute Elementary School’s enrollment was growing and an addition to house new classrooms was needed to meet the demands of the growing community. This addition required all new security, lighting, power, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems. The school also needed to completely replace their outdated HVAC system with a modernized one that could handle serving the new addition as well.
KED SOLUTION : System Designs for an Expanding School
We replaced the existing HVAC system with an upgraded, more efficient system that can serve the entire school. We worked closely with the architect to ensure the owners’ requests were being met throughout the entirety of the project. We designed lighting, power, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems for the addition. We also included specialized lighting in the cafeteria so that it automatically adjusts based on the amount of daylight in the space. As a result of our work, Don Shute has seen a significant improvement in energy efficiency, increased ventilation and filtration, improved cooling, and increased security.
