Rebuilding a Dealership Destroyed by Fire

Uftring Chevrolet : Washington, Illinois

PROJECT SIZE & COST

40,000 square feet | $7 million

THE CHALLENGE
Following a devastating fire, this local Chevrolet dealership was eager to rebuild. We were selected by a subcontractor to provide design-build services for the new service center, showroom, offices, body shop, parts area and supporting spaces — all of which needed to meet specific standards set by Chevrolet.

KED SOLUTION : Design-Build for Pre-Engineered Building
To address the temperature requirements of different functional spaces, we chose a multi-zone, variable refrigerant flow (VRF) split system that can provide heat to one area and cooling to another at the same time. In both the service area and body shop, we installed exhaust systems that pull fumes out of the building. To control solar heat gain in the all-glass showroom and lounge, we designed a rooftop air handling unit to control temperatures around the perimeter of the building. The project also included specialized CO2 and NO2 alarm systems.
