Transforming Retail Space Into a Modern Medical Complex

OSF HealthCare Clinic Consolidation : Peoria, Illinois

PROJECT SIZE & COST

65,000 square feet | $10.5 million

THE CHALLENGE
OSF HealthCare renovated a grocery store built in the 1990s into a medical office building housing multiple providers. The project involved transforming retail space with high ceilings and exposed structures into exam rooms, waiting rooms, offices and a pharmacy—serving occupants with varying requirements for their individual spaces.

KED SOLUTION : All-New Systems & Security
Coordination with the client, architect and building occupants throughout the design, engineering and construction process was key to ensuring the renovated building met the needs of both patients and providers. To convert the space from retail to medical use, we installed all-new, energy-efficient mechanical, electrical, HVAC and plumbing systems; dropped the ceiling height by six feet; and added an emergency generator, parking lot lighting, exterior cameras and access controls for safety and security.
