Upgrading a High Rise’s Laundry, Office & Restroom Facilities

Pekin Housing Authority : Pekin, Illinois

PROJECT SIZE & COST

34,200 square feet | $81,600

THE CHALLENGE
The housing authority wanted to update several areas within one
of its high-rise apartment buildings: converting a lounge into a new central laundry room, renovating two public restrooms near the new laundry and remodeling two out-of-date offices. Drawings of the existing space were available but not detailed.

KED SOLUTION : Upgrades, Retrofits & New Installations
We spent time in the space before beginning work to gather accurate information about existing plumbing, electrical and mechanical conditions. For the lounge-to-laundry conversion, we upgraded mechanical systems and retrofitted electrical panels to accommodate industrial washers and dryers. In the offices and restrooms, we replaced grills and diffusers and installed new lighting, outlets and switches, along with new plumbing fixtures in the restrooms. The project was completed on time, within budget and to the satisfaction of the owner and tenants.
