Modernizing Systems for Midland High School

Midland High School : Varna, Illinois

PROJECT SIZE & COST

59,000 square feet | $3.9 million

THE CHALLENGE
We performed an HVAC study at Midland High School and determined that the existing heating system and ductwork would all need to be replaced due to age and functionality issues. With this replacement, the school decided to add air conditioning to their facility as well. The school asked us to be budget-conscious and to minimize construction as much as possible.

KED SOLUTION : Cost-conscious Planning
We were able to re-use the school’s existing roof curbs, which are raised frames that are designed to support roof-mounted equipment and provide shelter and stability between equipment and the structural opening in the roof. This helped save on project costs and minimized construction. We designed all new lighting and HVAC systems for the school, as well as replaced all of the old, lined ductwork. As a result, Midland High School now has modernized systems that provide temperature-controlled spaces and ideal lighting for learning environments.
