Designing a Centralized Air Conditioning System

Metamora Township High School : Metamora, Illinois

PROJECT SIZE & COST

45,000 square feet | $3.2 million

THE CHALLENGE
Metamora Township High School had a complicated, split-heating system that was not functioning at peak performance. The school also did not have centralized air but was attempting to supplement the lack of centralized A/C with window A/C units. The school needed to replace the heating system and add centralized air conditioning, however, the school’s existing infrastructure added complexity to the project.

KED SOLUTION : Providing Custom HVAC Solutions
We came up with creative solutions to ensure our ductwork designs would fit within the allotted ceiling spaces. Our designs allowed us to re-use some existing ductwork, helping to cut down on costs. We also designed a new, centralized heating and cooling system, providing improved temperature control, humidity control, and ventilation. The system included a new chiller plant, a structure to support the weight of the chiller plant, and two new rooftop air handling units (AHUs). As a result, Metamora Township High School now has a modernized, consolidated HVAC system to serve their facility for years to come.
